The Hunt for Australian Fantasy was the first history of Australian horror, and was written with Steve Paulsen and published in Aurealis in February 1995. An expanded version, by Sean McMullen, Steve Paulsen and Bill Congreve, was published in The Scream Factory in November of the same year, and won the William Atheling Award in 1998.
